one of the worst films i’ve ever endured is legends of the fall, an unremittingly bad film, apart from a moment of compassion delivered by anthony hopkins relieved the gloopy horror of it all with a hilariously hammy impression of a man trying to speak after suffering a stroke.
the closing scene of the film has an old native american relating the tale of how the hero of the film, brad pitt, had died trying to wrestle a grizzly bear. ‘it was a good death’ he nodded sagely. now was i the only one thinking ‘well, i could think of better’? - like, oo i don’t know, peacefully in my bed, asleep, at the age of 97. or better yet, from a brief heart attack after sex with a twenty-two year old.
that’s the thing about blogs. you carry these things about in your head with you for years. now it’s off my chest.
the bear should have won the oscar.
